Skyways Ahead: Atlantic Gateway and the potential for air industry Paul Boutilier, Managing Director of Business Development for the Atlantic Gateway initiative Welcome Reception 7:00 pm, October 5, 2009 Maritime Museum of the Atlantic The world economy and means of transportation are rapidly evolving. The Atlantic Gateway initiative aims to place Nova Scotia in the centre of this activity. Both governments and the private sector are marketing and promoting the gateway for air cargo, the growing container and bulk/liquid cargo trade, cruise ships, short sea shipping and rail — both mainline and shortline. The relationship between air cargo and economic development is causal and beneficial — with increased competitive advantage and production advantage. In this new economic mileau multi-sector, multi-stakeholder and international collaborations are critical. Join Paul Boutilier, Manager of Business Development with Atlantic Gateway, as he gives fresh insight into the big picture of positive growth occuring in-market and on the ground. He will also address the business opportunities and development that this will generate. Interactive performance by DRUM! and reception to follow. ![]() The musical production DRUM! will take you on an engaging journey into the cultures and music of Nova Scotia at the welcome reception on Monday, October 5. This is a unique and innovative learning experience that goes beyond the traditional format and incorporates the creative expression and traditions of our ancestral cultures. Every guest will have a chance to play an instrument from one of Nova Scotia's founding cultures; Aboriginal, Acadian, Black and Celtic. Four percussionists, one from each culture, share with guests both their personal experience, and what music and rhythm means to them. The performers teach each group a basic rhythm on their instrument ultimately bringing the four rhythms together while singing a traditional Mi'kmaq song. The result is a uniquely uplifting and unifying experience that demonstrates: "we can remain who we are and still share a song, a stage, a country, a world". The welcome reception is included in your delegate registration. |
